De manos a músculos: masaje deportivo para profesionales de la educación física
Synopsis
La idea de este libro surgió de una constatación repetida en nuestras aulas, en nuestros consultorios y en las canchas y pistas donde hemos acompañado a deportistas de distintos niveles: el masaje deportivo se enseña y se practica con frecuencia como un conjunto de maniobras que se transmiten de manera casi artesanal, de generación en generación, sin que exista siempre un espacio formal en el que dicha práctica se confronte de manera sistemática con la evidencia científica disponible. Como docentes e investigadores vinculados al programa de Licenciatura en Educación Física, Recreación y Deportes de la Universidad del Atlántico, y como profesionales que hemos ejercido la aplicación directa del masaje en contextos deportivos reales, sentimos la necesidad de construir un texto que cerrara esa brecha.
De manos a músculos: masaje deportivo para profesionales de la educación física es, ante todo, un esfuerzo por integrar tres campos de conocimiento que con demasiada frecuencia se abordan de manera fragmentada: la anatomía y la fisiología aplicada, la biomecánica del movimiento humano, y la técnica manual propiamente dicha, todo ello leído a la luz de la literatura científica más reciente disponible sobre los efectos reales del masaje deportivo. Hemos optado deliberadamente por no presentar el masaje como una herramienta infalible, sino por mostrarlo tal como lo respalda la evidencia: una práctica con beneficios documentados, particularmente en el plano de la percepción del dolor, la fatiga y el bienestar psicológico del deportista, y con limitaciones igualmente documentadas en cuanto a su capacidad de acelerar la recuperación funcional objetiva.
